Reading Your Race Analysis

How to interpret the control table, split times, ranks, and time losses.

Opening a race

After importing a race, click on it in the Races list to open the analysis view. The page has two tabs: Analysis (default) and Preparation.

The control table

The control table is the heart of the analysis. Each row represents one control leg. The columns show:

  • Control — the control number or code
  • Leg time — your split time for that leg (from previous control to this one)
  • Cumulative time — your total elapsed time at that control
  • Fastest leg — the fastest time any athlete ran that leg
  • Time loss — how much time you lost vs. the fastest leg time
  • Rank — your rank on that specific leg compared to all finishers

Focus on the legs with the highest time loss first — these are where you have the most to gain.

Reading the numbers holistically

A single leg time does not tell the whole story. Look for patterns: are you losing time consistently throughout the race (physical or fitness issue), or only on specific legs (navigation error, hesitation)? Is the time loss concentrated on a few legs or spread evenly across all?
