Race Preparation

Goals & Strategy Notes

How to use the Goals and Map & Course Notes fields effectively.

Goals

The Goals field is a free-text area for writing your race objectives. This could be a time target, a ranking goal, or a process goal — for example: "Keep compass contact on every leg" or "Choose simple, safe routes on long legs".

Write specific, actionable goals rather than vague ones. "Focus on clean exits from controls" is more useful than "run well".

Map & Course Notes

The Map & Course Notes field is for terrain-specific information: map scale, typical vegetation density, known tricky areas, or notes from a training run in the area.

Reviewing after the race

Once your race result is imported and linked to the preparation, your goals and course notes appear on the race analysis page under the "Preparation" tab. Comparing your pre-race intentions with what actually happened is one of the most valuable reflection tools in Contoura.
